Fix WhatsApp Web Not Working on PC

The web app version of Whatsapp is called WhatsApp Web, and while, on the whole, it works well, some people have reported they can’t get it working at all.

If that is happening to you, these solutions should help you to fix the issue.

How to Fix WhatsApp Web Not Working Issue:

When WhatsApp Web stops working, it’s usually down to an issue with your account, your browser or computer or the server, so try these steps to see if they fix it for you.

  1. Check WhatsApp Server Status and WhatsApp Account

The easiest way to check both is to try WhatsApp on your mobile device. Send a couple of messages to check – if it doesn’t work on your mobile, it isn’t going to work on the Internet either. If it does work on your phone, try the next step:

  1. Log Out and In

whatsapp logout

Logging in is typically done via scanning the barcode on your mobile device. To log out, go to Menu on the web app and click on Log Out. Log back in and see if it is working; if not, move on to the next step.

  1. Clear Your Browser Cache

Cache files are web files stored when you go to a website for the first time and are stored offline. These are stored so you can quickly retrieve data when you go to the website again, loading the page much faster. If the cache files become corrupted, the page loading will be affected. Clear the browser cache files and when you go back to WhatsApp Web, it should be fine.

  1. Try Another Browser

web browsers

If it still isn’t working, try accessing the website via a different browser. If it works, you know the problem lies with the original browser. If it doesn’t work, check that you can scan the barcode with your phone, as the problem could lie with your camera.

  1. Check The Browser Compatibility

If the problem is with your browser, ensure it is compatible with WhatsApp Web and make sure it is up to date. WhatsApp Web doesn’t work with all browsers. For example, while it will work with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera, it doesn’t work on Internet Explorer. It also won’t work if your browser version is outdated and/or obsolete.

Check that there are no updates for your browser and reset the browser if this doesn’t work. You can also check that any plugins or extensions you are using are not interfering with WhatsApp Web. If any are interfering or using blocking scripts, disable them and try again.

  1. Disable Your Anti-Virus and Firewall Temporarily

While these keep your system safe, they do, at times, block genuine applications. To test this, disable your firewall and anti-virus and see if WhatsApp web works ( https://web.whatsapp.com ). If it does, add it to your Firewall and security whitelists to ensure it is allowed through. Please make sure you re-enable your security once you are done.

  1. Try Your Internet Connection, Troubleshooter

The troubleshooter isn’t just for checking a connection but also for other problems that may stop a website from running. Click on your system Start button and go to Updates And Security. Then click on Troubleshoot and choose Internet Connections. See what comes up and if it fixes your issue.

  1. Contact Your Network Admin

If you get a notification from WhatsApp that your Wi-Fi connection is stopping WhatsApp Web from working, you need to contact your network admin and ask them to bypass the traffic to *.whatsapp.net, *.whatsapp.com, and web.whatsapp.com.
