let’s move on

Before You Update:

Before you can even think about downloading iOS 13, there are a couple of things you need to do first. The most important thing is to make sure you update iTunes as it has to be a version that matches the latest firmware:

  1. Launch iTunes on your computer
  2. Click on Help > Check for Updates itunes-update-mac
  3. iTunes will check for updates and, if there is one, will guide you through the update process.

Once you have done that:

  • Back your device data up using iTunes and/or iCloud
  • Disable Find my iPhone/iPad find-my-iphone-turn-off
  • Disable your passcode
  • Disable Touch ID if it is enabled

You can re-enable all these services once you have upgraded to iOS 13.

Wait, there’s more

Compatible Devices:

iOS 13 firmware is compatible with the following devices:

  • iPhone 6S, 6S Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 7, 7 Plus
  • iPhone 8, 8 Plus
  • iPhone X, XS, XS Max, XR
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPod Touch 7thGen

Did you notice?

The iPad is not on the list, and that’s because, at long last, it gets its own operating system, iPadOS. Any other device not on this list cannot be updated to iOS 13.

Happy?

Let’s move on

Downloading iOS 13:

As usual, there are three easy ways to do this. Two of them require iTunes and, if you intend to jailbreak in the future, these are the methods to look at – avoid the OTA method as it causes issues with the jailbreak.

Let’s do this

  • Method 1: OTA ( Over the Air )

This is the quickest method, not to be used if you are going to jailbreak:

  1. Open your Settings app and go to General
  2. Tap on Software Update ios_ota update
  3. When the update has been found, tap on Download
  4. Tap Install and leave your device to update – when it’s done, your iPhone will reboot to the Hello screen
  • Method 2: iTunes

  1. Plug your iPhone into your PC or Mac computer
  2. Open iTunes and select the summary for the connected device itunes-device-summary
  3. Click on Update and then Install itunes-update-iphone
  4. iTunes will update your iPhone to iOS 13 and reboot it to the Hello screen

And last

  • Method 3: iTunes with IPSW

  1. From the list below, download the right IPSW file for your iPhone or iPod Touch
  2. Connect your device and computer and open iTunes
  3. Click the device summary for your device
  4. Now press SHIFT ( Windows ) or ALT ( Mac ) on your keyboard and, at the same time, click on Restore in iTunes itunes-restore
  5. Navigate to the IPSW file you downloaded ipsw-ios
  6. Click it and click on Install
  7. iTunes will update using the IPSW file, and your iPhone will reboot to the Hello screen when it’s done ios_hello_screen
